An historic choice for a modern landscape
Victorian Bluestone pitchers were first produced and used in Melbourne back in the 1850’s. A common sight in the streets and laneways of Melbourne’s CBD.
With times changing and the need for a more consistent surface being required for roads and lanes a lot of this beautiful bluestone is being pulled up and replaced with bitumen and asphalt. We couldn’t stand by and watch this gorgeous stone with such history end up in landfill and came up with a way to reuse them.
Originally split by hand these full-size pitchers are never a standard size. We receive them at approximately 300mm x 200mm x 150mm square and we painstakingly slicing them into 20mm & 30mm thick pavers. Creating bluestone pavers that range in size from 100-400mm in length to 100-250mm in width.
Reducing the thickness of the pitcher blocks allows you to get a similar look at a portion of the cost and bring a little bit of history into your landscape.
